The ‘JOY!’ tavoletta takes us to Ghana. Bananas (kwadu) are a symbol of fertility and abundance, and the sun symbolises positivity, energy, and power. I wanted to use these emblems to convey a sense of radiant joy exuding from the piece. The inclusion of vintage pieces and the reference to vintage travel art speaks to the inner divide many of us have between a longing for home and the past versus a longing for adventure and the new.
