I am drawn to exploring the depth of womanhood, where there are seemingly endless potentialities and paths to pursue, yet often, one-by-one, these dreams, or versions of ourselves, are extinguished, or become unattainable, and then that version of self becomes inaccessible to us forever.
This series of paintings explores this, with my subject Anna generously allowing me to depict her in a moment of grief and incomprehension, raw and unguarded, yet hopeful to see how the future would unfold.
