This series explores the tension we hold every day between joy and grief, beauty and terror. When making this piece I was considering our rapid responses to scrolling online, where we often flit between heightened emotional states in microseconds. In one sitting, we can absorb heartbreaking depictions of war alongside humour, love, art, consumption, rage, sadness, joy and mundanity. I wanted to explore this in a light-hearted way, referencing an Australian party food as an acknowledgment of this shared experience. She is lovingly hand-painted and handmade by me in my Meanjin studio.
